Flathead development Public Comment from Laura Pratt Aimee Brunckhorst From: Laura Pratt <laurapratt431 @gmail.com> Sent: Monday, November 4, 2024 5:07 PM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject: EXTERNAL Flathead development Kudos to Travis Taylor for submitting his Guest Opinion column of November 4, 2024 in the Daily Interlake. He very eloquently states the major concerns of what/suspect are the general opinion of a large number of citizens in Kalispell. Our infrastructure is reaching a breaking point in handling all the new developments in the name of"progress and growth." Our roads are not designed to handle large amounts of traffic (think Two and Three Mile Drives with practically no shoulders), medical facilities are being strained to the point that it can be weeks to several months to get appointments, especially with specialists, and road rage is becoming commonplace, along with break-ins and other criminal activity. The quality of life in the Valley is being compromised by our town council and county commissioners playing directly into the hands of big-name developers trying to capitalize on this once-beautiful community. My husband and I directly witnessed the disregard for public opinion years ago when a nearby development was planned, against the input of neighbors. We sent appropriate correspondence to the commissioners and were told they never saw any of the complaints and it was obvious they were going to push the agenda anyway, which they did. This is not what communities should have to tolerate. I see the same thing happening with the Tronstad Meadows/Whitetail Crossing proposition, which will NOT solve our housing crisis. I suspect the commissoners' minds are already made up, despite any input from the public. What a shame! Laura Pratt, MD i
