Subject: EXTERNAL Tronstad Meadows Whitetail Crossing development
I am writing this to voice my opposition to the proposed development of the Tronstad Meadows Whitetail Crossing. I have
been following this since its proposal and agree with all the other concerned citizens against this development for all the
same concerns.
I live in Silverbrook and know what a nightmare the intersection of Silverbrook Drive, Highway 93 and Tronstad road
is. That intersection is extremely dangerous as it is without the increase of traffic from yet another development! We also
will have the development that Mark Owen is doing between Silverbrook and Northern Pines that you all approved. I can
only imagine how that is going to add to the traffic issues as the traffic from that development will connect into Silverbrook
Drive and add much more traffic pulling onto Hwy 93 and that intersection as well. How much more development do we
need? This is so ridiculous to approve another unneeded development in a rural setting such as this, let alone make it
part of the city of Kalispell. Neither Whitefish Stage or Tronstad road can handle this amount of extra traffic without much
improvement in the infrastructure. They talk about a light at the intersection of Tronstad and Highway 93 but until that
happens and other improvements to the overall infrastructure of the two roads, this development should never happen!! If
you are going to approve all this development in the rural settings then it is your responsibility to ensure the safety and
concerns of those citizens that live in the proposed areas you are considering developing. Maybe you need to do your
homework and take a look at the concerns of the citizens against this development and all developments that have been
approved even with much public opposition. This is far too many homes for this area and obviously the BS of the
developers that we need "more affordable housing" is ridiculous. As our property taxes continue to rise along with
everything else housing in our valley has become less affordable. 355 homes is far too many for this area and would
totally wreck the landscape of this beautiful rural area. These developers come in and act like they are doing all of us a
favor by creating more housing when in fact it's not what anyone wants to see. I think Mr. Sonju and Mr. Garner were
rather arrogant when speaking at the last meeting with how wonderful they were for lowering the density by 25 houses,
that is nothing!! I feel you as our representatives have an obligation to make sure all the infrastructure is in place as well
as looking at the overall effects this will have on our schools which are already lacking in space and we can't even get a
school levy passed because of the increasing costs and rise in our taxes. Maybe for once you should look at the long
term affects before instead of after the fact. This subdivision should not be approved as is until everything else has been
done including a much needed light at the intersection of Tronstad & Highway 93 along with all the others improvements
that Whitefish Stage and Tronstad road will need. Even then I feel the density is far to high for this area and maybe you
should consider just 1/2-1 acre lot's in keeping with a more rural feel. I also think you need to consider the concerns of
those that have homes and land that were purchased before all this new development. These people wanted to be in a
rural setting for a reason.
