Mayor and Council Members,
I would like to thank you all for hearing my complaint and opening discussion regarding the Flathead Warming
Center at The City Council Meeting on April 1, 2024.
We have all had the chance on multiple occasions to voice our concerns, stories, and feelings on the Flathead
Warming Center. I thank you forgiving everyone that opportunity.
In my opinion the neighborhood went up and beyond trying to work with the Flathead Warming Center. We
brainstormed to identify, issues and offered solutions. The Flathead Warming Center was unwilling to work
with the neighborhood after one meeting. They continue to state that they want to work with the
neighborhood, however, they were the ones who cancelled the meeting.
I would like to remind Council Members that the action coming before you regarding the revoking of the
Conditional Use Permit at the September 16, 2024 Council Meeting is not on the homeless issue that we have
in Kalispell. The vote will be on whether, or not the Flathead Warming Center is abiding by the Conditional
Use Permit that the City of Kalispell issued to them.
The Conditional Use Permit was issued with the understanding that the Flathead Warming Center would abide
by the below which they have not done.
1. Transportation in and out of the neighborhood.
2. Would be no negatives on the neighbors or the neighborhood around The Flathead Warming
Center.
3. Serve local homeless residents.
4. Would communicate with neighborhoods and solve any issues.
I would encourage Council to do the right thing and revoke the Flathead Warming Center's Conditional Use
Permit.
