Disturbance with a Weapon
On September 6, at 7:45 AM, the Kalispell Police Department was
dispatched to a report of a person with a handgun near Elrod Elementary
and Flathead High School. The caller stated there were several juveniles in
the area and a male juvenile pointing a gun at a vehicle. School District 5
placed the schools in lockdown immediately while KPD officers attempted
to locate the suspect.
KPD quickly located the subjects and detained several juveniles. Interviews
and a subsequent search revealed a replica “air soft” pistol leading to a 15-
year-old male being transported to KPD for questioning. The juvenile was
released into the custody of his guardian. This investigation is ongoing and
isolated. KPD has forwarded this case to the Flathead County Attorney’s
Office for review of Criminal Charges. KPD is grateful for our partnership
with School District 5 and the community member who called this in
promptly. Due to the suspect’s age, he will not be named, and no more
information will be released.
Respectfully,
Jordan Venezio
Kalispell Police Chief
