Golf Course Public Comment from Eva MarkwellI am writing with suggestions for the renewal of the
Buffalo Hill golf course lease. This opens a increased
possibility for greater walkability in our city.
I would like to see a southward continuation of the bike
path along Highway 93. If a few feet of the golf course
on its west side could be made available, it would
provide space for the continuation of the existing
pathway that currently ends at Bountiful Street. The
pathway to highway 2 is more complicated, but it
could be possible to add trail access on the south
boundary of the golf course to allow access to Main
Street where regular streets and side walks would be
available.
I do not drive due to vision impairment, but I like to
walk. It would be possible for me to go downtown for
shopping or to visit Woodland Park on the existing trail
if the above changes were made.
A second issue: We enjoyed public access to the
beautiful golf course for a few months during the
pandemic. I would ask that you negotiate an
agreement with the golf club to offer one half day per
week golf -free for our own Central Park and its
benefits.
