On April 10, 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced PFAS rules that
established new maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) for drinking water. Prior to the rule adoption,
five PFAS sampling events for a variety of well sources have been completed through March 2024.

Continual follow-up sampling will be conducted at Kalispell public water supply well sites where
previous detects of PFAS occurred. The last sampling occurred in July of 2024, and results will be
released soon. The next scheduled follow-up sampling will be in the Fall of 2024.

Extensive evaluation on long-term alternatives to minimize PFAS introduction to the water system has
been ongoing by staff and a consultant and includes the possibility of replacing or treating sources,
blending sources, and hybrid alternatives. A review of treatment technologies and how effectiveness,
constructability, completion timelines, and operational costs are being evaluated was provided to the
public and City Council during the June 10, 2024, City Council meeting..yi..........e..o..
