Warming Center Public Comment from Iris MinceyAimee Brunckhorst From: iris mincey <irismincey@gmail.com> Sent: Friday, July 12, 2024 11:39 PM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject: EXTERNAL Dear Kalispell Mayor and City Council. My name is Iris Mincey, I have been a resident of Kalispell my whole life. I urge the Kalispell City Council to maintain the Flathead Warming Center's Conditional Use Permit. Instead of focusing on restrictive measures, the Council should leverage its political influence to advocate for substantial changes at the state level. Pressuring the 2025 Legislature to improve Medicaid, expand affordable housing. and enhance addiction services is essential. There are dedicated legislators, both locally and statewide, who are actively seeking solutions to reduce homelessness -through legislation around housing, mental health, and addiction services. The Council should also consider forming a county -wide coalition to address homelessness, working collaboratively with the county and other municipalities to develop actionable strategies. These efforts will help make the Flathead a safer, more affordable, and more livable place for all residents. Thank you
