1. Parks and Recreation
Woodland Park’s formal garden has been planted with 4,300 flowers for the season. A
flower bed at Depot Park adjacent to Highway 93 has been renovated with new irrigation
and annual plantings.
A contractor recently repaired the deteriorating cinder block flower bed in front of the
public safety building. The cinder block wall will be repainted
in the fall.
Forestry staff are working at Woodland Park to prune trees
near the camp center. A forestry contractor has completed the
pruning of twenty-six large cottonwoods at Woodland Park.
They will now move to Lions Park where they will prune an
additional four trees.
Woodland Water Park opened for the season on June 12. It
will be closed June 15 and 16 for training.
Our first Food Truck Wednesday at Depot Park had eight food
trucks for the community to enjoy on June 12. Food Truck Wednesdays will go through
October. We will be posting the food trucks attending on our social media pages to help
spread the word of this new event at the park.
Camp Woodland opened for the season on June 3. Theme weeks can be found on our
website, showing what the campers will be enjoying. Games, crafts and discovering will
be centered around each theme.
2. Public Works
New Wells Construction
Pumps, piping and motors are scheduled to
be installed in the 4 Mile Drive and N Main
Wells this week.

TSS Pavement Markings
With the arrival of warmer weather, the TSS Crew will
be around town performing pavement markings through
the end of summer. This work includes:
• Symbols
• Crosswalks
• White and yellow long lines
3. Building Department
In the last 2 weeks we have issued permits for 8 single-family homes. This brings the
total of new single-family/duplex and townhouse units for the year to 74, compared to 26
at this time last year. There have been 0 multi-family housing units issued so far this year.
There were a total of 189 combined building and/or fire inspections completed in the last
2 weeks.

4. Planning
The Planning Commission has been rescheduled from June 11 to June 18 to have a
quorum.
5. Community Development
The City will close off the full parking lot at 3rd & Main on Friday, June 14 to prepare for
work by Hydrometrics and their sub-contractors, under contract with the Montana
Department of Environmental Quality. Work is planned to begin on Monday, June 17 and
includes: pumping out the underground storage tank, removing, cleaning and disposing of
the tank. The parking lot will likely remain closed until June 28 when lab results are
received and the hole is backfilled.
6. Police Department
Attached is the latest case report from the Kalispell Police Department.
Officer Stuhler achieved solo status and completed the Field Training (FTO) program.
He is now assigned to Sgt. Haag’s graveyard shift.
Officer Gasner completed 1 of 2 weeks of shadow phase and should complete the FTO

program by Thursday of this week.
Officer Edson has moved into phase 3 of the FTO program.
On June 3, half of the police department completed annual firearms qualifications, less
lethal impact munition recertifications, and a mechanical breaching refresher.

7.Fire Department
From the period of May 29 to June 11, the Fire Department had 184 responses. Of these,
there were 142 medical incidents, 1 house fire, 3 fire alarm activations, 6 motor vehicle
accident with injuries, 2 haz-mat incidents, 14 public assists, and 16 with nothing found
or canceled enroute.
New portable radios have arrived and are being prepared for placement into service.
Chief Kinzer and selected members have been working on a new reporting software
program (First Due) readying for implementation.
FF/PM John Mellencamp is working with crews on advanced rope rescue skills.
All members have completed their annual physicals with Logan Occupational Health.
All suppression staff must qualify annually for “fit for duty” status.
