Subject: EXTERNAL Solid Waste Master Plan comments
I am a resident of Kalispell. I'm very disappointed that the plan does not include either the implementation of recycling
services, money to educate users about waste recycling and it's benefits, and incentives for volume of waste reductions
ie different fees for different waste can sizes.
My wife and I currently pay $25 a month for curbside pick up of cardboard, paper, and #1 plastic of a limited use. We we
our rich neighbors filling their waste cans with cardboard that could be recycled. But people are lazy and will not recycle
until it is incentivized in some way.
With our unprecedented growth, 1/2 of landfill waste coming from construction waste can the land fill really expect to
continue to bury trash for the project period without beginning some type of move toward recycling.
