Opposition to tronstad development Public Comment from Michele TaylorAimee Brunckhorst From: michele taylor <taylor92107@yahoo.com> Sent: Monday, June 3, 2024 2:45 PM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject: EXTERNAL Opposition to tronstad development Good afternoon, I'm writing to express my opposition to development on tronstad road as well as my disappointment in the boards performance prior to recommending moving forward with this project. I attended the initial meeting. During that meeting, only one board member stated he'd fully reviewed/read the plans for the project. One board member remained completely uninvolved and uninterested in any discussion at all. At one point during the meeting, Chad Graham actually had to ask him if he had any comment or input. He did not. When the time came for voting on the recommendation. He simply raised his hand for a yes vote. As for the other three board members, each one expressed concerns regarding traffic issues created by the development. They specifically discussed the concern for rear end car accidents as well as traffic fatalities that could possibly be associated with traffic issues created by this project. At one point during the meeting, one of the board members actually suggested falsifying the information to MDT in order to get the approval to move forward for a traffic light. Despite the fact that they did not completely read the plans and also expressed concerns regarding the traffic, each one of them voted to recommend moving forward with the project to the council. The only board member who did not recommend this was also the only one who stated he had read the plans in their entirety. He expressed concerns regarding the traffic related issues and also stated that it seemed this subdivision simply did not fit in with the area. The highest responsibility of city council is to ensure the safety of the community. It's quite clear that this subdivision cannot move forward without creating significant traffic risks to our community. Also, placing this density of 1 homes in this rural area places significant strain on the surrounding rural citizens. Please know that I am not against a development. As previously suggested, I would not object to 2.5 acre lots in this area. Thank you for your time, Michele Taylor Yahoo Mail: Search, Organize, Conquer
