City Council Meeting 06032024 Public Comment from Brenda Oberlitner June 2, 2024 Dear Mayor Johnson and City Council Members, My name is Brenda Oberlitner. I reside at 36 Wintercrest Ridge, Kalispell Montana, located North of the proposed Trondstad Meadows and Whitetail Crossing development. I write in opposition to Frank Garner and Seven Properties application as written in its entirety for a 380-unit housing development. PJ Sorenson, Senior Planner for Kalispell City Council, quoted to the Flathead Beacon on May 22, 2024, that the annexation of Tronstad Meadows and Whitetail Crossing was a “logical extension of the city” and stated the property lies in the immediate path of the additional annexations. At the May 20, 2024 City Council Meeting, a member of the Koenig Family stated their property to the East abutted the proposed development and would not be available for annexation. Surrounding families living on Tronstad Lane, Highland Drive, Autumn Court, Sirucek Lane, Wintercrest, and Ponderosa Estates have all expressed their opposition being annexed into the city. The application talks of a minor arterial within the development running north to connect to future minor arterial roads. Wintercrest Drive is not available as a ‘direct path’ extension. Therefore, I see no ‘direct path’ in any direction. Property North of the proposed annexation is zoned Sag 5 and Ag 10 with some R 2.5. The application speaks to the fact that Flathead County remains largely un-zoned which is misleading because the county is zoned. Reference Flathead County GIS Mapping Website. The Flathead Beacon article dated January 23, 2008 states the city council apposed adding additional stop lights on Hwy 93 North associated with the ‘Kalispell Green Lights Glacier Town Center’. Adding stop lights to 93 North conflicts with the intent of the Kalispell City Draft Transportation Plan that Hwy 93 between Kalispell and Whitefish remain a fast-moving arterial road. Please consider the information I have provided for denial of the annexation, zone change, and preliminary plat approval for the Tronstad Meadows and Whitetail Crossing development. Sincerely, Brenda Oberlitner
