Warming Center Support Public Comment from Patty JohnsonAimee Brunckhorst From: Patricia Johnson <patriciajohnson72@gmail.com> Sent: Sunday, June 2, 2024 7:17 PM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject: EXTERNAL Warming Center Support Dear City Council Members, I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share my support for The Flathead Valley Warming Center keeping its Conditional Use Permit. They provide invaluable services to many within The shelter serves as a vital refuge for individuals experiencing homelessness, offering warmth, nourishment, and varied additional supports and resources during the day. By providing a welcoming environment where people can find respite from the elements and enjoy a warm meal, the shelter plays a crucial role in addressing the immediate needs of our most vulnerable neighbors. Additional supports and connections to resources advance the administration of crucial services to many. As a member of this Flathead Valley community, I believe it's important for us to support initiatives like The Warming Center, which not only provides essential resources but also demonstrates compassion and solidarity with those facing hardship. Communally supporting organizations that have a mission to meet the basic needs for ALL humans is a responsibility we all share as a society, in my opinion. I encourage you to leave The Warming Center's CUP in place so they can continue to do their important work. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and let's continue working together to create a more inclusive and supportive community for all. Patty Johnson, Whitefish, MT
