Warming center Public Comment from Marijke Stob
Dear city council,
Im writing to ask you to allow the Warming Center to retain their operational permit so they can continue to provide crucial services to our neighbors who need help. I find that homelessness
is largely misunderstood, and decisions made in ignorance and fear are not the best decisions made.
Instead of closing down shelters that help those who are unhoused, perhaps we, as a community, should focus on the underlying issues that cause homelessness in the first place; like
addiction, mental illness and the rapidly rising housing costs that are burdening the majority.
I urge you to please be cautious and proceed with compassion and an open mind.
