Work Session 5_13_24 Public Comment from Shelby OdellHello,
I joined the meeting via Zoom and actively listened and participated in it to make sure I followed allowed with the subjects at hand. I have made the following notes and comments:
-The Warming Center has a serious adverse affect on the surrounding areas and has negatively impacted the community.
-The charts are consistently showing how the Warming Center has impacted our community negatively. Emergency calls to that area are unbelievably high, especially during the open overnight
season.
-Homeless people are greatly catered to by the city because we are Montanans and we care about people. But they abuse the system and the locals around them and it is unfair and wrong.
-The grace of the council has been exceeded and needs to be restored to the people of the community, not the homeless.
-Not all the emergency calls in that area are from homeless people but the people who live in the area negatively affected by the homeless.
-We do not need to support this place and we do not need to “suck it up” since we live in the area.
-How many of the council members themselves live around the area or by the homeless over running the town? Probably none!
-Warming Center has DEFINITELY caused an increase in homelessness!! 100%!
-This was to help KALISPELL LOCALS ONLY! The fact that the Daily Inter Lake interviewed someone who attends there frequently is from Great Falls is ridiculous!
-This permit was granted and the people who asked for it are NOT following the guidelines! It needs to be SHUT DOWN!
-There has been no open communication and there has been no regard for the surrounding neighborhoods and businesses.
-Some homeless people do choose the homeless life because it is easier and cheaper.
Thank you, Chad Graham, for standing up for our neighborhoods! We appreciate you!
