Immigrants in Kalispell from Randy MohnTo Members of Kalispell City Council: My parents, myself, and my children were raised in the Flathead Valley. Now 2 of my grandchildren are being raised here as well. I want to go on record and say that not all Valley Natives are anti-immigrant. And Valley Neighbors is not a "dark money" group. Ask any accountant in the valley who will tell you that it is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides resources to refugees and immigrants in the valley. Donations to said resource are fully tax deductible. That should be proof enough. The United States Census Bureau estimates that there are only 3,000 undocumented immigrants in the entire state of Montana. As we should all know, the population of Montana is now over a million and climbing! I am not sure that undocumented immigrants should really be the #1 concern for local law enforcement or frankly anyone else. Perhaps we can all take a step back and realize that humans helping other humans in need, without the misinformed labels, is what one is supposed to do for the good of their community. And today, technology can help us communicate in any language, by simply opening a phone app. Please take a moment to become informed as to how young immigrant families may actually be able to enhance your life and add to the place you live. Their intentions are honorable and we should welcome them. The truth is out there for anyone actually willing to see it. Sincerely, Randy Mohn Lakeside
