As an 8 year resident of Kalispell and a person whose ancestors are not indigenous to this country, I see the work of Valley Neighbors as generous, crucial, and extremely positive. Many
residents of Kalispell immigrated here from another state and most have ancestors who come from another country. Organizations like Valley Neighbors make it possible for people seeking
a good life, as we all do, to secure housing, work, and safety in Flathead County. This is not an easy place to land and get going if you don't know anyone here; I know that from experience.
I hope the council will hear the comments in support of Valley Neighbors with an open heart and consider what is actually required for a family seeking refuge to undergo in a new place.
Immigrants are often the ones serving our community in back breaking roles many of us prefer not to have, for much lower pay than we are willing to make. They are not driving up housing
costs, they are continuing to beautify our landscapes, build our houses, replace our roofs, grow our cherries and remind us that most of our families are immigrants, too.
