RE: Annual Board and Committee Appointments
BACKGROUND: Staggered terms on the various City of Kalispell citizen advisory boards and
committees will expire April 30, 2024. Several boards also have ongoing vacancies. Notice of
board openings was provided through the city website, social media, and press media outlets. All
applicants, whether reapplying or new, were asked to fill out an online, fillable application form.
The Mayor, with the consent and advice of the Council, shall make board appointments. Please
see the following board list, with hyperlinks to each board's webpage. Please refer to the webpage
for descriptions regarding the purpose, membership requirements and term lengths of the
individual boards, and their current board members. Membership requirements have been verified
for all applicants. Staff will continue to recruit and accept applications throughout the year for all
boards and committees who have ongoing vacancies or positions that are not appointed by the
Mayor at this time.

RECOMMENDATION: Mayor Johnson offers recommendations for appointments to all of the
boards listed above, followed by a member of the council making one motion to accept the
recommendations and confirm the appointments.
ALTERNATIVES: Mayor Johnson offers recommendations for each board separately,
followed by individual council motions to accept the recommendation and confirm the
appointments. If the Mayor's recommendation is rejected by the majority of council, "the Mayor
shall entertain a motion from any other council member recommending another applicant for the
position..." (Ordinance 1733).

capitalize on it's unique strengths to reach it's full potential.
My family and my businesses are invested in Kalispell's success.
In addition, as a current member of the KBID, I am working closely to oversee a lot of transitions with the
board, and I would love to see these efforts through. I also believe the board and city would benefit from
the continuity.

I am a current KBID member, where I have been part of a lot transitional work. I sat on the Kalispell
planning board for 5 years. I currently sit on the Parking Advisory Board. I believe my work on
all boards has been cooperative and beneficial to Kalispell and it's residents and businesses. I also sat on
the Kalispell Trail Crew Committee and worked closely with the Parkline development (My agency
named and branded the trail).
I am a downtown resident, business owner, and property owner. I have years of experience and training
in design, and communication.
I have worked closely with countless local organizations. businesses, nonprofits, and individuals,
giving me an understanding of concerns that a huge variety stakeholders have. An additional result of
my work is that a I have established a healthy network of partners and allies across our fine valley.

There are a couple reasons why I am interested in serving this board. One reason would
be that I grew up in this area, so the negative reaction to the increase in Tourism was a
given for locals. But this board is able to show why it is important economically for us to
cater towards the rapid increase in travelers, and what the benefits are to the locals
because of it. I think I can serve the board well with a new perspective when it comes to
what the younger generations want to see and experience when they travel to Kalispell.

I have a Cerificate in Business Management from Gallatin College. A lot of my family members live here so I have seen

I've been a member of the Urban Forestry Committee since 2021. It has been gratifying
to help promote the importance of trees in our community, and to stay informed about the
health of our urban forest.

or cornrnission:
My past experience on the board is helpful to the work we're doing. My prior experience in
marketing, writing and community connections are helpful when organizing the Arbor Day
event and seeking volunteers. And my current work is closely related -
trees, plants, pollinators, water are all important factors.

This will be my second term on the URA and I appreciate the collaboration in working
with the URA board staff and City Council. I am interested in continued participation and
thoughtful coordination of development in Kalispell. Kalispell has an opportunity to utilize
their TIFF dollars to benefit the community and the city.

I grew up in Kalispell and I am a downtown Kalispell business and property owner. I have
been on the Business Improvement District Board for the past 3 years and work with
downtown property owners and businesses to help create a beautiful downtown. I have a
dual degree in Fianance and Banking and run several businesses, and have a thorough
understanding of budgets. In doing multiple developments, I can understand the
complexity of the projects that are being presented to the URA and feel confident in
making thoughtful recommendations to Council. Thank you for the opportunity to serve.

I am interested in Kalispell and investment in the community. I live and work here, and
have had the opportunity to sit in on many URA board meetings. I like the organizations
goals and feel I could be an asset to the board as an engineer familiar with urban design
and community development.

I have my bachelors degree in civil engineering from Gonzaga and have been a civil
engineer in the Flathead Valley for the last 14 years (the majority of my career). I have
expertise in land development and have worked extensively with the City of Kalispell on
land planning and civil engineering projects. There are currently no engineers or land
planners on the board to my knowledge.
