Short Term Rental Renewal Public Comment from Cassidy KippHello,
I am writing as a resident of Ward 3. I am concerned about the pattern I have observed over the past winter with short term rentals. Many short term rentals do not complete snow removal
or debris removal as is required, unless there is an upcoming rental taking place. For example, there is a pattern with rental across the street from my house where they don't shovel
or do any type of work at the time of snowfall, however when the owner/ manager arrives to do the cleaning, it usually means a guest arrives by end of day. I am wondering/ hoping/ suggesting
that there might be a way to register a complaint against the owners who neglect to upkeep their walks as required? Maybe something that can be addressed with them at the short term
renewal time? I feel like there needs to be a greater level of accountability with short term rentals and that it is impacting the walkability/ safety of my neighborhood. Public comment
before their approval is fine, but it isn't until after the units are approved that the management deficiencies are observed. Despite what everyone thinks, short term rentals are not
full every night and do have periods of vacancy. I do hope this can be addressed in some manner with owners.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
