REPORT TO: Doug Russell, City Manager
FROM: Aimee Brunckhorst, CMC, City Clerk & Communications Manager
SUBJECT: Appointment to the Tourism Business Improvement District Board
MEETING DATE: March 18, 2024
BACKGROUND: The Tourism Business Improvement District was originally created in 2010
with Resolution 5425 with the regulations of the district created with Ordinance 1675. In 2019,
Resolution 5954 was passed renewing the TBID for an additional 10 years beginning July 1,
2020. Ordinance 1833 was then passed to establish the regulations for the new TBID.
The district is governed by a Board of Trustees to which the Mayor, with the approval of the City
Council, appoints seven members of property within the district. After initial appointment,
members are appointed for a term of office of 4 years.
The board member representing a large category property recently resigned, and a new applicant
with the same property, the Hilton Garden Inn, has applied for the position that has a term
expiration of April 30, 2027. The board also has an ongoing vacancy for a small to medium
property representative.
RECOMMENDATION: Mayor Johnson offer a recommendation to appoint Brandon
Brookshire to the Tourism Business Improvement District with a term expiring April 30, 2027.
Council can then follow with a motion to accept the recommendation and confirm the
appointment.

Why are you interested in serving this board, committee, or commission:
I manage a hotel and want to be as involved as possible with all the variables involved in
running a hotel. I deeply care about this industry and my community, and I strive to
improve the status and overall business of our hotel. It would benefit our property and
myself as a person, to be more deeply involved in the behind the scenes functions of our
business and community.
Detail any education, knowledge, or experience you have which would be beneficial to this board, committee
or commission:
I have been a manager in the hotel industry for 5 years and I have 20 years of

in-laws own a Restaurant/Bar here in the valley so I am very involved in the community. I
also have a diploma in Neuro-linguistic Programming which is an art of communication.
