BACKGROUND: The Kalispell Parks and Recreation department submitted a successful grant
application to the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Montana and has been awarded
$750. The funds received will be used for purchasing equipment (rackets, balls, nets, etc.) to start
an introductory after school tennis program for elementary aged kids. Through our existing
partnership between Kalispell Parks and Recreation and School District 5, we will utilize Elrod
School to introduce this program.
FISCAL IMPACT: An additional $2,000 in estimated participant revenue for youth sports.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council move to authorize the City
Manager to enter into the grant agreement with USTA of Montana.
