To: <abamonette@gmail.com <mailto:abamonette@gmail.com> >  <https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/MTDEQ/2019/06/2618868/blue_original.png> Hello, As you know, the DEQ is currently seeking input on near-term, implementation-ready, priority greenhouse gas reduction measures to be considered for inclusion in Montana’s Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP). We are currently working on direct outreach to ensure we hear from a broad audience representative of a variety of economic sectors. Will you help us spread the word? For example, you can share this email with people you know – friends, family, your city and county officials, local schools, and members of groups you belong to. If you are on social media, here is a sample post you could use: “The State is seeking input on identifying innovative and nonregulatory measures that would significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Montana. Please submit your ideas between now and Jan. 5, 2024, via the online Emission Reduction survey. For more information, visit DEQ’s CPRG page.” (And when you do post, please tag ‘montanadeq’ on Instagram, and “Montana Department of Environmental Quality” on Facebook.) Also, if you have not done so, please submit YOUR emission reduction ideas – no later than Jan. 5, 2024, but hopefully much sooner. If it helps get your creativity flowing, below are some examples of possible reduction measures: * State or local program to replace residential fossil-fired furnaces or wood-burning stoves with electric heat pumps, targeted in census tracts identified as low-income/disadvantaged communities. * Incentive programs for the purchase of certified energy-efficient appliances, heating and cooling equipment, lighting, and building products to replace inefficient products. * Support smart-grid and/or behind-the-meter technologies to reduce power losses, reduce peak demand, and enable consumer participation in distributed generation. * Increase the share of electric light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles on Montana’s roads, and expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure. * Programs and incentives to reduce or divert waste (including food and/or yard waste) through improved production practices, improved collection services, and increased reuse or recycling rates. * Support or incentivize GHG reductions in industrial energy use and industrial processes, including use of low/no carbon fuels, electrification, renewable energy, and process improvements. If you are receiving this email from a friend or colleague who forwarded it to you, and would like to sign up to receive future updates directly from DEQ, please go to DEQ’s CPRG page to subscribe for updates today!
