Maxness/Kalispell City AirportHello,
My name is John Maxness and I co-own and operate a small air charter
company in Helena, Montana that was founded in 1931. Through the many
years I have been operating in Montana, the City Airport has come to be
quite an asset to aviation in Montana. Many times the weather is such
at the “big” airport, we are able to divert to “city” and still keep our
passengers on time. If one of our customers is having a meeting
downtown, City really is a good alternative. Our customer clientele
includes large companies doing business in the Flathead, medical
transports and most of the dignitaries visiting their constituents. We
have one that prefers and requests “City Airport” over the other.
I feel both airports have unique qualities and are a great asset to your
community and would hate to loose either one. From what information I
have been able to review, the City airport more than supports itself by
the benefit it provides to the community. I also think in a time that
jobs are shrinking, one needs to continue to be progressive and attempt
to maintain the employment levels we have and not close ANY small
business, as these are the business’s our economy is dependent on right
now.
As a proponent of General Aviation, I am asking your group to consider
all the effects of an airport closure.
Sincerely,
John Maxness
