Sackett/Strong Support for the Kalispell AirportIt has been brought to my attention that there are pressures directed at
the council to close the airport. I want to emphasize how important the
airport is to the community of Kalispell and all of us who use it to
visit your fine city. I live in Bozeman, MT. My wife and I travel
frequently around the state in our small plane, a Cessna 182. It is an
important freedom for us and one that all of us want to preserve. The
attraction to us for Kalispell airport is not only the beauty of the
area (especially from the air) but the proximity of the city; it is a
favorite stop for us to walk into town, shop and enjoy a fine lunch
before heading on.
I wonder if many people realize that what is being proposed will help
reduce noise, something that we as pilots are all sensitive to. I wonder
if people understand how important the airport is to the financial
vitality of Kalispell. Consider FedEx and UPS for example. I would also
remind you that there are many young people in our nation and I am sure
in Kalispell who dream about taking to the air. To deny all of us that
freedom for the selfish desires of a few would be tragic indeed.
Sincerely,
John I. Sackett
