Newpower/City AirportTo whom it may concern,
I am a Montana pilot that lives in Billings. I am writing to comment
on the possible closure or upgrading of the City airport. I make
several trips each year to your city and always use the City airport.
The convenience cannot be beat. Being able to walk to many of the
places I need to get to is a big reason I use this airport. Upgrading
the airport to meet current FAA safety standards is a fantastic idea and
should be done without delay. Realigning the runway will help improve
safety as well as help to mitigate the noise concerns of some people.
Closing the airport will hurt many businesses, not only at the airport,
but the city as a whole, as people like myself simply will find other
places to go. How many jobs would be lost if the airport closes? Is
this something a small town should do to its citizens?
The airport supports many types of public services. Services such as
Young Eagles, emergency medical flights, postal service and UPS/Fedex.
The City airport is one of the assets of the city that makes your city
one of the crown jewels of Montana.
