concerns.

My name is Ronald E. Albrecht. I live at 1070 North Meridian Road Kalispell. I am a 100% disabled Viet
Nam era veteran suffering from PTSD, anxiety and many associated medical problems. I have worked
hard for 7 years to remodel and add on to my home and now is my perfect "safe place" refuge to enjoy
my retirement years.
Recent city expansion has caused traffic and housing issues that directly effect my day to day life! My
increased lack of privacy, safe healthy environment, loud noise from speeders and many associated
issues need to be addressed and solutions applied ASAP ! These issues have caused a severe increase to
my medical conditions. The lack of policing, street maintenance (snow removal), privacy, noise,
speeders, etc., which varies from time of year and time of day, have gone unchecked.
I have called the city mayor, council members and planner many times and calls go unreturnedl City
police are under staffed and underpaid leading to security issues that are detrimental not only to myself
but all Kalispell people!
I know that qualified professional staff for the city have evaluated all these issues associated with
increased population growth but my problem is understanding WHY sufficient actions have not in fact
been implemented?
I now come to rectification actions that I will pursue, not only for me but others that have shown
concern along North Meridian Road.
The new apartment complex across from my residence has been given many variances, from initial
planning to present, with NO regard to the effects that are impacting property owners. It is time for
residents to be given reparations and variance allowances for damages that have occurred and will
continue to occur due to lack of city officials planning to protect ALL residents from big money
developers.
Yes, I could sell my home and relocate. Do I send my expenses for relocating to the city? Lets start with
6% x $650,000.00 to realtors, $39,000.00. Now the increased payments for a new loan, currently 2 % %
loan and payment $1,370.00 per month. To relocate to same style home $650,000.00 x 7
approximately $4,324.00. or $2954.00 monthly increase plus insurance, taxes! That is
$1,063,440.00,over 30 year loan, more than I currently would pay at my current location! Now add in
movers and mental stress you can see that I would be due a very sizeable amountl
What options can you provide?
1) Speeders, lack of enforcement
2) Traffic congestion
3) Health hazards from noise, dust and number of cars/traffic
4) Vagrants on property from homeless shelter, police long response time due to short staffing
5) Snow removal kept to street NOT sidewalks, yearly battle with city
6) Noxious weed control is not enforced, yearly calls, slow to no action
7) Privacy from tall apartments overlooking property, trees for buffer were removed from plans to
allow apartments built closer to street and additional units to be built
8) Increased potential crime and drugs from 750-1000 people in new apartments, section 8 was
not originally allowed?
9) Sidewalk not properly laid causing buckling, 7 years of calls to city to repair, no response
I do not need studies to address these issues as solutions should have been thought out prior to
increased building permits and location of housing units as well as traffic flow and speed control.
I await your informed decision to address my concerns without further hazards going unattended.
I would require a response and corrective action be taken no later than 12/6/2023.
