Liberty/Kalispell Muni Airport

Attn: City council members:
Please consider all of the positive benefits the Kalispell Municipal
Airport has that are currently in place and that could improve with
expansion plans that have been ongoing for 10 years.
My experience with this airport was all positive when I flew in a few
years ago. Safety wise, I considered S27 the best choice as I could
avoid mixing with faster, larger aircraft.
All the services that any pilot would need were available -- fuel,
aircraft repairs, food, hotels, and pilot services like weather
information, flight planning and all very friendly Access to these
necessities would not necessarily be available if the airport is moved.
The benefits from the long-time planning that have been completed will
vastly improve safety. (lengthening, width, safety zones, and guidance
from VASI lights).
Realignment of the runway and traffic patterns will lessen the noise
footprint from noise.
Continuing pubic service is important for flights for youth, (Young
Eagles), Emergency Medical, Mail/Fed Ex and UPS.
Access is important to the parking areas and aircraft without prior
security screening (Rafting trips, Fly-ins, Young Eagles, Gliders,
Camping).
Your airport will lose the current local businesses and future
employment opportunities from these businesses. The city will lose the
employment from the construction of the improvements. The costs to the
City to close and move the airport would be much greater than saving the
wonderful asset that is already in place.
From Washington State, I'll fly in to Kalispell Municipal Airport, but
not to somewhere out of town.
Thank you for the consideration,
