Northridge park Public Comment from Marta PouliotGood morning,
I was instructed by officers of the Kalispell Police Department to reach out to you, for your assistance in what is a constant and growing issue at Northridge park.
Im a resident of Northridge subdivision. Over the years, myself and other residents, have had to call Kalispell PD, a multitude of times, to respond to Northridge Park for
suspicious activity, of all kinds, particularly in the evening and/or hours of darkness.
Subjects will utilize the parking lot as an overnight, homing location. As a result, one can hear vehicles running throughout the night as individuals attempt to keep warm. This
Is incredibly disruptive! We have witnessed people urinating and defecating in the trees, which are right off the parking lot. Yes!! They will literally run into the tree line to do
their business!!
Officers have arrested individuals on drug possession, outstanding warrants, etc. Last, and certainly not least, we are experiencing constant issues with the residents of
110 Northridge Drive. I have no intention of defaming their character, however, law enforcement officers have responded to their residence for domestic abuse situations, pit bulls running
loose,
unconscious persons, in vehicles, parked on the street. The traffic in and out of this residence is relentless! One does NOT have to have a background in law enforcement to know this
type of behavior
is not ‘normal’.
Despite the fact, they have an oversized driveway, which could easily accommodate 4 vehicles, they park a minimum of three vehicles in Northridge park’s lot…every night! They have a
camper and two vehicles, on blocks, in their driveway, which only allows for one vehicle to utilize the remaining space. As a result, all the other occupants, who come and go, leave
their rigs in the park’s lot.
Officers have informed us that they can not do anything about vehicles, left unattended in the park’s lot, unless they have been there for several days. We were instructed to reach out
to you
to get some signage placed at Northridge park stating when the park closes, any unattended vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense. As you know, a good majority of our city parks
have this signage as a means to keep criminal activity down, etc. We need this! Since I moved into my residence four years ago, I have witnessed the growth in criminal activity
in and around the park. So much so that I have security cameras at my home.
I respectfully request a sign be made and erected at the park as fair warning to those who choose to use the park for selfish and/or nefarious reasons.
Sincerely,
Marta Pouliot
