Krista Buls - Legends StadiumJudi Funk From: Krista Buls <krista.buls@sd5.kl2.mt.us> Sent: Monday, October 2, 2023 11:35 AM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject: EXTERNAL Meeting October 2nd, 2023 Hello City Council Members, I will be attending the meeting this evening to give public comment on this situation as well but I wanted to send an email in advance. As some of you may know the City of Kalispell has purchased the property to the South of Legends Stadium. Since then they have walled off access to the South entrance with a locked fence on the street on 1st Ave West. This brings up copus amount of concerns/issues but the most pressing at the moment is safety. The safety for the 200-400 patrons that use the facility any Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Prohibiting access from the South makes it extremely easy for anyone to trap said patrons in the facility and inflict harm, not to mention if we had a catastrophic event there is only exit and entrance to the North. That means people would be exiting frantically and emergency personnel would be arriving in the same small North accesses. I doubt the fire marshal would approve of only having North access and being landlocked by the City. Others that I believe would possibly have issues could be the Sheriff, KPD, and Disaster Emergency Services just brainstorming a few. One of our assistant superintendents, Pete Fusaro has been in contact with individuals for the past few months trying to come up with solutions and being met with a resounding and simple, "no". There are other implications that restricting access from the South has/will cause but the safety of our children, students, and community members is the most pressing at this time. Thank you and I will see you all later this evening. Krista Buis School District 5 Board Trustee Representing Marion, Olney -Bissell, Pleasant Valley, Smith Valley, & West Valley Schools Mr
