Rodkey/S27 airportSmall, general aviation airports are one of the under appreciated and
often overlooked assets of our great nation. They allow freedom of
transportation, generate economic activity, provide employment, and are
needed in natural or transportation disasters.
Pilots who fly small planes over long distances, even if they are not
planning to stop at a particular airport, will note their location and
plan their flight with those locations in mind in case there should be
unexpected headwinds that cause them to need fuel sooner than planned,
or for dealing with in-flight emergencies.
I strongly encourage the city of Kalispell to consider this larger
picture when making decisions about such a valuable resource.
