Bulera/Airport debate I am a supporter of the upgrades to the City airport and I am against
limiting or losing the airport all together. One of the nice things
about this airport IS it's proximity to the town. Being able to fly in
and walk to local businesses, museums, parks is an advantage. The
upgrades will help move the noise a little to the south and improve
safety with buffer zones, landing aids, and a longer runway. The upgrdae
project will bring good paying jobs to the area in the immediate future
of just building the new airport and a new airport could bring new
businesses on field or close by because it is easily accessible to town.
The Kalispell airport is already used for mail, UPS and Fed Ex when
issues arise at Glacier intl as an alternate.
I moved to this area to pursue a carreer in aviation, and I am now
working at the Kalispell airport at Red Eagle. I am a flight instructor
and comercial pilot for them. It has been a long, hard, and expensive
journey to get to this stage and I am very dissappointed to here that
there is talk of closing the airport. As an instructor I try to do my
best to alert my students to the noise problems that we face with such a
close proximity to town. We have implimented a training program that
trys to distribute the take off and landing cylces to other airports
around the valley. I personally try to not begin training activities
before 8 am and try to conclude them before 11 pm.
I urge the council to continue with the upgrades to the airport. I
believe it will be good for the community in all ways.
