Lee/Kalispell City AirportTo Whom it may concern,
My name is Jesse Lee and I have lived in the Flathead Valley for about 6
years. I understand there are groups of people that are trying to shut
down the city airport....
I don't even know where to start, so I'll start rambling,sorry. 1st
off, the airport was here before any of these people which comprise
these groups were even in Kalispell. Why would they move close to an
airport if they don't like airplanes? Is it really unsafe to have the
airport in the middle of the city? I knew the pilots that died in the
accident, involving a house several years ago, that these opponents like
to speak of and it was a tragic loss. These groups are so worried about
an accident lik that happening again. I would venture to guess that
they are way more likely to have a car crashing into their house than an
airplane.
The airport brings in a lot of business to this part of Kalispell. I
worked at Red Eagle Aviation for a summer and I saw first hand the
amount of travelers that came through via aircraft. Many people would
rent cars, stay in hotels, eat at restaurants, shop at local businesses,
etc... The location and atmosphere of the city airport is very unique.
It is so close to local attractions that it makes for a great stop for
an afternoon or weekend visit. It is this atmosphere that brings these
travelling pilots to our valley for a time.
I'm sorry that some people have decided to move close to an airport
only to try and shut it down. It's too bad that they have to learn a
lesson about due diligence and researching property before buying or
leasing close to an airport.
Thanks for taking the time to hear my humble opinion.
