Death Investigation
On 8/13/2023 at 1:58 AM, Kalispell Police Officers responded to a Physical
Disturbance near E Railroad Street and 3rd Ave EN in Kalispell. A witness reported two
male subjects had been in a physical confrontation and that one was now unresponsive.
Officers located a 32-year-old Kalispell man on scene, with a significant head injury. The
other male had left the scene prior to officers arriving. The injured male was
transported to Logan Health in Critical Condition.
Officers continued investigating this incident and several hours later, took 34-year-old
Cody Mize into custody on the charge of Aggravated Assault. Mize has a last known
address in California.
On 8/14/2023, the Kalispell Police Department was notified that the inured male had
died from his injuries. Investigators are continuing to interview witnesses, collect
evidence, and gathering information on this case.
