1. Welcome- Members present: Jessica Treweek, Diane Morton Stout, Natalie
Robinson, Chris Vick, Sue Corrigan, Gary Havens, Diane Medler, Teri Iwerson,
Carrie Nelson and Museum Director Brit Clark. Zoom option available but all
present person.
2. Board Review and Consent
a) Approval of minutes- April minutes approved.
b) Treasurer's report acknowledged. Brit noted that Tea & Tour income was
historically posted as tour income, but is now posted as fundraising.
c) Approval of use of grant funds from the Great Fish Community Challenge-
• Primary and secondary use of funds for the 2023 Great Fish
Community Challenge will support the Mansion's mission statement
and be used to "preserve and exhibit the 1895 Charles Conrad
Family Estate through public tours, educational programs, and
community events."
• This includes but is not limited to: general operating expenses,
payroll, historical preservation, and program development.
• Sue moved and it was seconded to use grant funds to support
mission statement. All in favor.
d) Chris moved that Brit Clark, museum director and Diane Medler, board
president be the designated fund advisors. This was seconded and
approved unanimously.
3. Grant/Sponsorships
a) Flathead Electric sponsorship of Student Tours ($10,000)
• FEC has donated $10,000 to support student tours. The funding for
this comes from capital credits that have not been claimed after
five years and must be used for education purposes.
• FEC has ordered 1,000 notebooks for students.
• Sue and other volunteers will create a committee for school tour
education ideas.
• Round Up for Safety proposed projects focused on ways to improve
wheelchair access. A ramp or a lift to the front porch that helps
people access the first floor of the house in a manner that is not
invasive to the historic architecture.
b) Whitefish Community Foundation grant
• The Mansion was awarded a grant to apply towards a garden shed.
The amount will be revealed at the award ceremony on May 18t"
Plants will be arriving on May 2st and .tune 5t". Volunteers have
been arranged to help with planting.
• Sue and Tia nominated Chris Vick for a Whitefish Community
Foundation 20 Year Legacy Award in honor of the many years he
has supported the Mansion and its growth as a museum.
c) Museum Cooperative marketing projects
• Trifold brochures are at the printer and will be ready for distribution
soon. They advertise the Hockaday, NW MT Historical Society, and
Conrad Mansion. The Chamber is getting bids to do a video clip of
the three museums.
4. Fundraising
a) Brick Project- Engraved bricks have arrived! They will be installed after the
roof repair this summer to prevent damage.
b) Room sponsorships -.lust a few rooms remain. Donors will be recognized
with gold plaques near the front door.
S. Director's Report
a) Brit shared updates from tours, the garden and grants. Teresa Knutson's
specialty clothing tour theme this year will be "'The Conrads at Play" and
highlight sporting equipment. In appreciation for the time and talent that
Teresa volunteers for the annual tours, Chris moved to authorize Brit to
spend up to $150 for a nice thank you gift for Teresa. Motion seconded
and approved.
b) The Mansion is fully staffed for season. A summer intern will be starting in
a few weeks and will focus on upgrading museum labeling throughout the
Mansion.
6. Board Planning Meeting
a) The Board planning meeting was recapped and next steps (bathrooms)
briefly discussed.
