Subject: EXTERNAL Garbage clean up Kalispell
To whom it may concern,
My husband and I are lifetime residents of Kalispell MT. My husband was born and raised here in MT, graduated from
Flathead High. (Back when there was only one High School)
We have watched the growth and change in this valley over the years, some welcome, some not, but we continue to be
a part of the community and do our civil duty.
My father-in-law founded Daybreak Rotary of Kalispell and my husband has been a member for 25 years. They have
done an amazing job over the years doing garbage clean up along highway 93. However it's only 2x a year. Since they
started doing this, the bypass has been added. And, more traffic, more construction, more garbage.
It's depressing driving along the new bypass and up to Whitefish on 93 looking at the garbage that has taken over our
beautiful valley. This needs to be addressed by the City and County of Kalispell. Daybreak Rotary cannot do it all. I
personally have spent hours picking up garbage around Glacier High School, and the bike path around the high
school. But it's too much for one person.
Do we not have construction sight inspections? Can we not fine any of these construction companies for not keeping
clean work sights? What about the jail? Can we not have the incarcerated out on the highways for an afternoon of
garbage pick up? What about the warming hut? Pay the homeless to help pick up garbage. I personally would donate
and help raise funds to make this happen.
I'm notjust here to complain, I want to help be part of the solution.
Sincerely,
Denise Barkus
