Subject: EXTERNAL Proposal to Fine Motorists for Giving to Homeless
Dear Council,
The newly proposed article by Chad Graham is absolutely ridiculous. Punishing members of the community
who care enough to give some money to the homeless is never going to solve the problem. It is bad enough
you ban people from sleeping in their cars (that should have never happened).
All these rules do is punish good people and further hurt the homeless; what's next, we start arresting people
for being homeless, or helping the homeless?
Maybe the City Council should volunteer at a homeless shelter and actually see if you can help someone,
rather than finding new ways to punish people for helping. Sounds like this is really a scheme to add revenue
to the city at the expense of the community.
The Council sure is reflective of the backwater old school mentality that continues to harm our state and
community. The classic "Montana Boy" thing needs to die.
