Subject: EXTERNAL Transient Increase in Kalispell
Dear Kalispell City Council:
With the utmost respect for each of your positions and for the issues of the day that bring
this meeting together with the community in order to address the increase of transient and
homeless individuals, I write you.
Easy solutions come with bandaids that in time, lose their ability to hold. In such an issue
as Kalispell is facing, a long term working solution should be set into motion for which
community residents can take part.
There are Community and Neighborhood watch programs. These in the past have assisted
law enforcement in the suspected engagement of crime in an area. Stemming from this
idea, is it possible to consider the deputization of good men in securing the safety of their
neighborhoods and supporting law enforcement in their endeavors? This would be
voluntary. No single citizen should lay at the council's feet complaint without regard to
making a viable recommendation toward "fixing" this situation that affects all citizens.
Our Founding Farher gave up much that we might have. Applying this sacrificial moment
in time to present day, could not a few good men rise to the occasion, train accordingly
and alongside our law enforcement, and take up the call to defend and protect our city, its
people, and its pursuit of continued saftey?
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Most respectfully,
jerelyn sandtner
