No public comment was given
Approve Minutes:
• Approve April minutes- no minutes were presented to approve
Current Business:
• Aphid Update- a discussion about the increase in aphids this year was discussed. Increased
moisture this spring was the consensus for the prolific number of aphids seen in recent years.
Adjacent property owners are being encouraged to purchase an over the counter insecticide
for treatment. Although a nuisance, aphids usually are not tree killers.
• Arbor Day- Arbor Day was not discussed as it was covered at past meetings.
• 50/50 Tree Planting Program- 13 trees were planted through the program this spring, 15
planted last fall. The DNRC Program Development grant to help cut the adjacent property
owners half in half has now ended. Also, now is the time for a new contract for planting.
With inflation the price is sure to increase.
• Work Plan Review- several topics were discussed for possible future work of the
board.
o Red Oaks- several red oaks have succumbed to iron deficiencies in the soil
and will need replaced as they were part of the 50/50 program. Fred asked if
anyone would be interested in helping survey them.
o Subdivison Trees- were discussed, what they are and how the come about. A
possible project would be to strategically pick a subdivision and go door to
door inviting homeowners to participate in the program.
o Fall Color Tour- Tony brought up that a community member he spoke with
was very interested in seeing the tour continue this fall and would seek
donations for the buses. Tony will follow-up and if funding is there we
would put it together.
