8 Story Building in Kalispell Public Comment from Patty Sommerfield-BrennanAimee Brunckhorst From: Patty Brennan <pattybrennan@me.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 9, 2022 12:50 PM To: Kalispell City Council; Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Cc: Patty Brennan Subject: EXTERNAL 8 Story Building in Kalispell Wow - I am in shock. I cannot believe that you are all - 100% - behind this development in our cute town of Kalispell Montana! I am also embarrassed that I did not attend the October 4 meeting to oppose this in person. I just thought that "this would never be allowed", but I was wrong. I am requesting another Council Meeting to re -address the approval of this. I have many questions, 9 that I would like answers for: 1. Did the developer purchase these two lots? 2. Are both lots being developed by the same developer" 3. If they did purchased the two lots, how is the city repaid? 4. Or, were the lots deeded without payment to the developer, as part of an economic development project? 5. Which building address will now be 8 stories? 6. What is your plan to provide more parking for Kalispell as with this new plan, there will be a shortage of parking places compared to the two existing parking lots now currently available? 7. Has the city commissioners approved all of the costs the develop insures building on both lots to be repaid to the developer from incremental taxes generated solely from the development on these two lots alone? If the reimbursement of incremental taxes over the approved period of time, do indeed cover the full cost of the development, it would seem the developer will have no money of their own invested in the site, the city owns no part of it? 8. Lastly, have any one of you driven to look at any of the 8 story and above buildings in Montana? If not, did you at least "google" for photos? If you did, you would not see one building that looks good. Also, have you walked around the neighboring businesses and homes to see what their view would be? I'm thinking it would be an ugly 8-story building and not the beautiful mountains that surround our valley, including Glacier Park. Once I receive the answers, I will call each one of you to discuss, as well as complete my Op -Ed asking for our community to demand a hold on this until the public has more information.
