SUBJECT: Approve Procurement of Second Set of Turnouts for Firefighters
MEETING DATE: October 3, 2022
BACKGROUND: This purchase will allow firefighters to have a second set of turnouts to change
into if their primary set is dirtied/contaminated from either a fire, Haz-Mat, or bio-hazard incident.
This will allow them to have a backup set that fits properly for the individual and meets all current
NFPA standards. These turnouts will have a 10-year life span. An advertisement for bid was not
used in this situation, as LN Curtis & Sons is the only authorized distributor in this area for the
turnouts we require.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council approve procurement of 32 sets
(Jacket and Pants ensemble) per quotation 9237834 provided from L.N. Curtis & Sons.
FISCAL EFFECTS: This capital purchase was budgeted for FY 22-23' . The total purchase price for
these units of $84,576, will come out of fire fund 1000-416-420400-221. There will be no negative
impact on our budget for this purchase.
