KALISPELL BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT BOARD MEETING
November 12, 2008

Present: Bill Goodman (Chairperson), Melanie Cross, Jon Fetveit, Tom Donnelly, Marshall Noice, Janet Clark,
Kellie Danielson, Tim Price (5:15).
Meeting called to order by Bill Goodman at 5:00pm.
Approval of Agenda: Marshall moved, Janet second. Approved by all present.
Hearing of the Public: No One present
Janet stated that she had been asked by Connie Leistiko ( Library Board) to ask the BID Board for a volunteer to
sit on the Library Community Advisory Board. This person would represent downtown interests in regard to
the location of the County Library. Jon volunteered.
MARKETING STRATEGY;
Jon stated that there are 2 audiences for foot traffic: Tourist and Local. For the local traffic use marketing
dollars for discount dollars, coupons.... BID matching dollars. Marshall suggested branding Kalispell.
Increase density at the Core: Slogans. Downtown Kalispell , I like it here, fun, family. For the locals: history,
pride of ownership, cool place to go. Missoula street signs: Higgins /Hip. We need to appeal to investors.
Promotion, Product, Price. Hyett Palma study.... Historic assets. Kalispell is What?????
Work Plan:
Bill & Marshall - Install cowboy on the front of Marshall's building and continue with "Cowboy Art On Main
Street"
Jon - Website
Tim —Spearhead Businesses.
Tom — Contest : Name Downtown Kalispell, set up Kiosk for downtown at the Flathead Beacon, Kellie
suggested matching funds.
Melanie & Janet — Walking Tour Brochure.
OLD BUSINESS:
BID will fund up to $500.00 for the Rod Run for Patrice Magnet at $25.00/hr. to develop an e-mail list for the
car clubs in the surrounding states. Jon moved, Melanie second. Approved by all Board Members present.
Liberty theater: Bill and Marshall have not met again with Phil Harris.
Tom says cover letter to property owners regarding assessments in finished.
Marshall met with Bob Lincoln and Steve Kelly regarding the Sommers Street Dance. Marshall said that it
would take
NEW BUSINESS:
Melanie will look into the prospect of moving the Farmer's Market into the Downtown area.
