KAUSPELL BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT WORKSHOP
April 29,2009, 7:30am.
Camus Creek Yarns, 338 main St., Kalispell, MT.
Present: Bill Goodman (chairperson), Melanie Cross, Tim Price, Marshall Noice, Jon Fetveit, Janet Clark
Katharine Thompson (City of Kalispell), Tana Rae(KDA).
Meeting called to order 7:35am. by Bill.
Approval of Minutes of April 15, 2009: Moved by Tim, second by Melanie. Approved by all Board Members.
Approval of Minutes of April 22, 2009: Moved by Tim, second by Bill. Approved by all Board Members.
Marshall stated that he felt that Kay Lynn was the right person to hire for the "Cowboy Art" sculptures, even
though the subject presented previously may not be correct. No comment.
Work Plan and Budget:
Marshall moved to send the attached budget to the City of Kalispell. Melanie seconded. Approved by Board
Members.
Janet moved to hire Rita Fitzsimmons, Designworks Graphic Design, to design the BID's logo. Melanie
seconded. Approved by all Board Members.
Jon will meet separately with Joe Militello and Paul Spade to discuss the website development. Marshall will
make further inquiry within the BID district for other web designers.
Bill and Marshall attended a KDA meeting Tuesday, April 28. The discussion being whether the KDA continues
to exist as it's own identity, as an arm of the BID or to dissolve. Tana lead general discussion. Tana advised
that Colleen Rudio, President of the Missoula Downtown Merchants Association will speak about the Missoula
BID and the Missoula DMA Friday, 7:30am., First Interstate Bank, and invited the BID board members to
attend.
Melanie asks the board to hire a Marketing Manager for the Farmer's Market. $5000.00 is in the budget for
Farmer's Market. Melanie advised the board that Brian Gion (Cooperative Development) from Great Falls
will meet with Melanie and others to advise setting up by-laws, insurance etc. fo a Farmer's Market.
Melanie will contact prospective Market Managers for interviews for the next meeting.
Next meeting: Wednesday, May 6, 2009, 7:30am., Camus Creek Yarns.
