Re: Downtown Christmas decorations
Greetings:
We are in the process of budgeting the remainder of 2009 and have come up with an idea
that would lower the overall cost of the Christmas garlands we have been displaying each
year. Currently we buy natural garland at a cost of $23.25 each and they barely last to the
end of the year. We would like to invest in artificial garland that could be left up well
into January. The cost for artificial garland we have researched runs from $44 to $88 per
light pole. Our budget will cover the cost of the natural garland, but if we could get a one
time infusion of $21 per garland (168 @ $21 = $3528) we could achieve our goal of
leaving the garlands up well into January and dramatically reduce our annual cost for
garlands in the future.
Of course the $21 figure depends on the KDA boards approval of the sample we are
ordering. We would like a commitment from the BID before we order a sample garland.
If the board does not approve then we will probably go with the natural for one more year
and address this problem again next year. Time is of the essence since we are nearing the
end of the manufacturing cycle for a November 2009 arrival.
Thank you for considering our request. We pray for your approval.
Sincerely,
David E. Mosby, chairman of the finance & budget committee
