To Whom it Concerns:
I have recently purchased a new home in the Village at Eagle Valley Ranch subdivision. It has come to my attention via
public planning documents that the developer has been allowed to pay the City in lieu of park land in our subdivision
(see attached Environmental Assessment from Jackola Engineering).
After looking into the City's regulations and development requirements, I find it extremely troubling that this is an
option at all. Open green space is essential for wellbeing, wildlife habitat, home value, and overall value to our beautiful
community. While public land is not obviously valuable on a monetary basis, it has wide ranging and lost lasting benefits
to communities. This should be up for the constituents to decide, not City Council members. I am formally requesting
that 28.3.22 be amended to require 0.03 acres per dwelling unit.
We live in Montana for the gorgeous, wide open spaces and if we don't start protecting them now, we will turn into
Colorado or California where green spaces are hard to come by.
