Dear Mayor and City Council,
Sorry for the delay and not having the attached draft form letters of support to share with you yesterday.
I'm the Chair of Flathead Transportation Advisory and we support the staff Mountain Climber to apply for a Department
of Transportation Rural Surface Transportation Grant. The application is due on May 26th. Would Kalispell City Council
join us in writing a letter of support for this grant application?
If awarded would be a 3 year grant for $3M and with the goal is expanding our essential community services in Kalispell,
Whitefish and Columbia Falls. This would support more direct service rides in Kalispell and expand our local service area
into Evergreen. The goal would also be to also bring back fixed route between the 3 cities.
As I mentioned yesterday, this would expand essential services to primarily locals focusing on Veterans, seniors and
those without reliable transportation needs. Our ridership currently includes workforce from Flathead Industries and
many families who live in town but don't drive.
The Mountain climber is mention multiple time is the goals and safety section of the Kalispell 2040 Move It Plan. A letter
of support would be greatly appreciated. I'm including a copy of a letter of fiscal support in case there is interest but also
we welcome any suggestions of who else to sign on in support.
