Spring Creek Development Public Comment from Theresa HartwellAimee Brunckhorst From: Theresa Hartwell <trayzajane@gmail.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 8, 2022 11:07 AM To: Kalispell Meetings Public Comment; Mark Johnson; Sandy Carlson; Kari Gabriel; Chad Graham; Sam Nunnally; Ryan Hunter; Jessica Dahlman; Sid Daoud; Jed Fisher Subject: EXTERNAL Spring Creek Development The fact that the city council doesn't give a crap about West Valley School just because it is in the county and their new development is in the city; that is about the worst thing I have ever heard. What is going to happen when the voters turn down the $39 million dollar bond they need to build a middle school? Do any of your children attend West Valley? With the current state of the economy, you all know this will happen and not get approved. You have annexed county property for developing (tax revenue) where the children will attend county schools. This is YOUR responsibility! All you care about is tax dollars coming into the city coffers. That's pretty obvious! The fact that the city council was pretty blatent in stating they didn't care about Two Mile Drive because it's in the county, even though the development is in the city is yet another mark on your record. Do any of you even live on Two Mile or Three Mile? Did the "traffic study" take into consideration that most of the traffic already from Two Mile is coming down Spring Creek Road and onto Three Mile Drive because that's the easiest way to get onto the Bypass? Doubtful. Sometimes it takes me 10 minutes to get out of my city limits development on Three Mile (city road) because of all the traffic coming from Spring Creek. Three Mile Drive gets backed up past the Bypass from KMS every single morning. And you want to add in 600 more units -1200 more drivers at least on these little two lane roads (one of which is yours). You say we need housing, but are you even aware of how much these brand new houses are selling for & apartments are renting for? The new complex on Two Mile Drive rents for $1700/month for a two bedroom apartment. You think these young adults working in the service industry can afford that? Over half a million dollars for a brand new 1400 sq ft home and over $400k for a townhouse? Do you know how much a household needs to make to afford that? Not the average wage earner in Flathead County, I can assure you that. I hope you all remember this when it comes to re-election time and you get booted out. Theresa (Kalispell city voter)
