AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 17-93, KALISPELL CITY CODE, TO IN-
CREASE TO TWO DOLLARS THE SUM WHICH MAY BE PAID AS A PENALTY FOR
PARKING VIOLATION WITHIN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS OF 'VIOLATION NOTICE,
TO PROVIDE EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL, MON-
TANA:
SECTION I. Section 17-93 of the Kalispell City Code is here-
by amended to hereafter read:
"Sec. 17-93. Duty of police officers generally; payment
. of fine within twenty-four hours.
It shall be the duty of the.police officers of the
city acting in accordance with the instructions issued
by the Chief of Police or acting Chief of Police to re-
port:
(a) The number of each parking meter which indi-
cates that the vehicle occupying the parking space adja-
cent to such parking meter is or has been parking in vio-
lation of any provision of this article.
(b) The state license number of such vehicle.
(c) The time during which such vehicle is parking
in violation of any of the provisions of this article.
(d) Any other facts, a knowledge of which is neces-
sary to a thorough understanding of the circumstances
attending such violation.
Each officer shall also attach to such vehicle a no-
tice to the owner or operator thereof that such vehicle
has been parked in violation of the provisions of this
article, and instructing the owner or operator to report
to the police magistrate of the city in regard to such
violation. Each such owner or operator may, within twen-
ty-four hours of the time when such notice was attached
to such vehicle, pay to the police magistrate as a pen-
alty for and in full satisfaction of such violation, the
sum of two dollars. The failure of such owner or oper-
ator to make such payment within twenty-four hours shall
render such owner or operator subject to the penalties
hereinafter provided for violation of the provisions of
this article."
SECTION II. This ordinance shall be effective thirty days
from and after its final passage by the Council and approval by
the Mayor.
