Subject: EXTERNAL Disappointed with the appointment of Rod Kuntz
Dear City Council members,
Kalispell voters were just railroaded by the appointment of Rod Kuntz tonight. Kyle Waterman is highly experienced,
dependable, and fair. He has served on the board of health during a very tough time, and instead of keeping him on to
provide stability and continuity, you have chosen someone who Kalispell voters have rejected twice.
This is a shock and a great loss for the health board and the efforts of the hardworking health department. Voters used
to be able to depend on having fair, even-handed community leaders no matter who was elected or appointed to office.
It appears that those days are over, and we should expect last-minute change -ups with little warning or opportunity for
community input. At the very least, the mayor should have given time for the council to discuss this appointment.
This is extremely disappointing, especially following a meeting where we saw so many great things happening in the
community regarding housing and innovative design. Leaving the stability of the health department up for grabs is going
to cause harm to a lot of people in the community.
