A RESOLUTION DECLARING THAT A PRIMARY ELECTION FOR MUNICIPAL COUNCIL
SEATS NEED NOT BE HELD.
WHEREAS, municipal elections must be held to elect five (5) City
Council members to the Kalispell City Council on the 3rd day of
November, 1987, and
WHEREAS, as of the 2nd day of July, 1987,a total of eight (8)
persons had either submitted petitions of election or filed as partisan
candidates for the City Council seats, and
WHEREAS, the number of candidates for any office exceeds twice the
number to be elected to that office in no more than one-half of the
offices to be elected, and
WHEREAS, the number of candidates in excess of twice the number to
be elected is not more than one for any office on the ballot, and
WHEREAS, Section 13-14-115, M.C.A. authorizes local governing bodies
to waive a primary election in the event that the circumstances
recited above are met.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL:
SECTION I. That a primary election to qualify candidates
or the municipal elections to be held on the 3rd day of
November, 1987, need not be held and the same is hereby
waived by the City Council.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL AND APPROVED
BY THE MAYOR THIS 6th DAY OF JULY, 1987.
