Acceptance of the MT State Homeland Security Program Award
October 4, 2021
BACKGROUND: Montana Department of Emergency Services, under the State Homeland
Security Program for Fiscal Year 2021 applied for financial assistance to the Kalispell Fire
Department- `Hazmat Team Sustainment Project' and has been approved in the amount of
$40,000. The purpose of this Award is to support local efforts to prevent terrorism and other
catastrophic events and prepare communities for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest
risk. This award provides funding to implement investments that build, sustain, and deliver core
capabilities essential to being a more secure and resilient community and on the greater scale,
our Nation. These monies are used for equipment for our regional Hazmat team, replacing
outdated monitor and sensing equipment, Hazmat supplies, gear and equipment that is necessary
to perform our duties as Hazmat Technicians.
RECOMMENDATION: Accept the FY 2021 Hazmat Team Sustainment award of $40,000.
FISCAL EFFECTS: This is a no match grant.
ALTERNATIVES: Decline the grant.

FY 21 Award Letter
Congratulations, on behalf of Montana Disaster and Emergency Services (MT DES), the application for financial
assistance submitted under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 State Homeland Security Program, Kalispell Fire
Department - Hazmat Team Sustainment project, has been approved in the amount of $40,000.00. City of
Kalispell, Fire Department is not required to match this award with any amount of non -Federal funds.
Before City of Kalispell, Fire Department requests and receives any of the Federal funds awarded, acceptance of
the award must be established. By accepting this award, City of Kalispell, Fire Department acknowledges that the
terms of the following documents are incorporated into the terms of this award:
