SUBJECT: Police Search Building Project
MEETING DATE: September 20, 2021
BACKGROUND: The City of Kalispell has received sealed bids for the Police Search
Building Project. The project includes constructing a 40' x 40' climate -controlled garage
with a mezzanine for evidence storage and a shed roof storage area for bicycles. The
proposed building site is on current city owned property.
Bids were received on Thursday September 9, 2021, at 3:00 PM. 3 responsive bids were
received from local contractors:

The original cost to build estimate in March of 2020 was $278, 000, this was adjusted to
$349,352 in the summer of 2021 due to market conditions
ACTION REQUESTED: Decline all bids and monitor for a more competitive building
market.
FISCAL EFFECTS: The KPD will make efforts to maintain current rental agreement for
our current search facility. The current cost is $600.00 a month.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested and approved by the City Council.
